The United States Environmental Protection Agency has adopted the Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule (RRP Rule) in an effort to lower the risk of lead contamination during repair & renovation activities. The reason the RRP rule was adopted is because repair & renovation activities that disturb lead-based paint can create hazardous lead dust and small chips which can be harmful to adults and children.
